Q:

What is the best way to build my decking? On posts or slabs?

Any advice would be great.

It all depends on the size and height of the deck. As the point loading of a larger deck can be too much for slabs and the deck would end up shifting. Best result all round would be to use posts as it gives you a more secure deck. Many thanks john.

Dig some pads at around 1800mm centres and lay some blocks flat, level with one another, to support double joists. Fill between double joists with single joists and lay decking over. This way, your joists will be level and off the ground and won't rot.

If you are doing a raised deck I would recommend building it on posts as slabs can move

Well it all depends on the ground type,I would only agree to layin a deck on slabs if they where an actual patio as such,any other soft base such as grass I would strongly advise post firmly concreted in place
