Q:

Selling my old copper cylinder

Hi all,

just had two quotes from this site. I was wondering, as don't want to be seen as a cheeky sod but money is money, so was thinking is it presumed that the guy fitting my new system will take the old copper cylinder away including the pipework and scrap it in or is this something for me to do? Is it worth it...what do they fetch?

Thanks.

The installer may have discounted your price on provision of taking scrap away. As said before you are free to do so but they don't give cash anymore at the merchants and they are not worth that much.

I usually account for removal of all waste into my quotations including scrap metal and cylinders etc

It's yours and you can recover some money by scrapping it. As it's copper it is worth something. The only "but"s:
You would need vehicle large enough to fit it in or trailer
you will get a cheque for its value (no cash)

No point keeping it, if you take it to a scrap merchant you wont get cash, all scrap now has to be accounted for. You need to give your bank details payment is normally made by bacs

They will be happy to take it away but it is your property and if you'd like to scrap it yourself you are free to do so. Don't think copper is worth all that much though.
