What would you recommend for stripping a ceiling?

best way is to dry strip it first if stubbon soak the paper you may have to repeat a few times you could also invest in a paper tiger to score the paper first allowing the water to penertrate the paper ! if this does not do the job then as a last resort a steam stripper or chemical stripper ! with steamers be carefull not to blow the plaster behind the paper .r.thompson painter decorator northamptonshire 07541883433

Depending on the wallpaper thickness on your ceiling try using water and p v a Ive used it when plastering old walls it worth trying as now steam is involved

Dry strip then steam. Depends on paper type i find. As said below, dont hold the steamer on the area to long as IT WILL blow the plaster.
Good luck.

I'd agree with the above, dry strip top layer, soak second layer and leave for 10 mins, then hopefully its easy to remove!

Good answers so far, would like to add that if you go along the route of using a steam stripper, don't keep it in one place for too long as you run the risk of blowing the plaster behind the paper

There is a product on the market called a paper tiger, basically three spiked wheels on a handle that you run over the paper, it scores it then use a wallpaper stripping solution and should do most of the work for you.

Best to try get the top layer off (dry strip) then wet it with warm soapy water or you could try scoring it with a knife and use a product called zinsser dif
