Q:

Boiler Service - How Often?

A quick question: How often should I be having my combi boiler services (4 years old) and how much can I expect to pay from a reputable trade? What qualifications are necessary to complete the job? Thanks

Hi boilers need servicing annually, you need tobve gas safe registered and have the relevant qua;ifications plus a flue gas analyser, which checks all the relevant things required with the new boilers. Different boilers require different things to be done or checked I charge £50 depending on where the person lives.

Hi,
A typical boiler (like any gas appliance) should be serviced annually. Each manufacturer requires different things to be carried out each year to maintain its working correctly. Some boilers will require parts as part of a service (seals and gaskets) others may not. The engineer carrying out the service MUST be Gas Safe Registered and hold the category of boilers as part of their qualifications. Every gas safe engineer has a photo ID card which shows the qualifications they hold on the rear of the card. Check this before they carry out the work to see if they are qualified to do so. We have a typical cost for a boiler service as £60 plus any parts. This checks the combustion of the appliance, re-calibration (if necessary) of the gas/air mix) cleaning out of traps and primary filters, checking expansion vessel to name just a few things. We also issue a digital certificate and offer a reminder service for all our customers.
Hope this helps
